does celiac disease impact our romantic lives? ⠀ does celiac disease impact our romantic lives? ⠀
yup. ⠀
⠀
and that's what we are exploring in today's Celiac Disease Wellness Journal ⠀
⠀
some tips on dating with celiac disease 👇 ⠀
⠀
💕 fearlessly advocate or yourself💕 ⠀
(but if you find yourself constantly defending yourself, maybe reconsider who you're dating...) ⠀
⠀
💕 set firm boundaries💕 ⠀
and don't accept ANYTHING except respect for them (boundaries might include approving restaurants you visit together and not kissing after they've eating gluten) ⠀
⠀
💕 remember that your worth is not determined by what you can or can't eat 💕 ⠀
and that there are far more interesting things about you than the fact that you can't have gluten. ⠀
⠀
👇 how does celiac disease impact you romantically? 👇
food is emotional, food is social, food is cultura food is emotional, food is social, food is cultural, food is more than just fuel. ⠀
and this is something I think people forget... ⠀
⠀
and thus living gluten-free doesn't just mean eating gluten-free, it means a lot more than that ⠀
⠀
for example, it means rethinking how we socialize ⠀
suddenly just showing up for a party involves: ⠀
- packing delicious snacks ⠀
- coordinating food with the host ⠀
- saying no to food being offered ⠀
- potentially having to "explain" yourself ⠀
- being othered and more... ⠀
⠀
👇how does celiac disease impact you socially?👇 ⠀
let's talk about the financial impact of living gl let's talk about the financial impact of living gluten-free! ⠀
research shows that one of the key barriers to staying gluten-free is the cost. ⠀
⠀
and as you can see in this graphic, research also shows that living gluten-free can be quite expensive. ⠀
⠀
👇how does money play a role in your gluten-free life?👇 ⠀
that's what we are exploring in today's Celiac Disease Wellness Journal prompt. ⠀
⠀
for me? the extra cost means that I have to be thrifty about my meals while prioritizing my favorite gluten-free alternatives. ⠀
⠀
luckily, I don't get sick of meals easily and I have a meal-prep/planning method to help with my budgeting! it's something I coach all of my clients on (dm me if you're interested). ⠀
gratitude help's keep things in perspective and wh gratitude help's keep things in perspective and while there are many challenges someone with celiac might face ⠀
⠀
there are also things to be grateful! ⠀
⠀
this graphic are just a few gifts being diagnosed with celiac has given me but there are plenty of other things to be grateful! ⠀
⠀
things like: ⠀
- the supportive people in your life ⠀
- delicious gluten-free alternative ⠀
- the ability to effectively manage your chronic illness ⠀
⠀
on that same note there are things that we might not be grateful for, and that's okay. we are allowed to be upset about things involved in gluten-free living. ⠀
⠀
and that's what today's Celiac Disease Wellness Prompt is all about, exploring what we are and aren't grateful for. ⠀
⠀
👇what are you grateful or not grateful for? 👇 ⠀
Switching over to a gluten-free lifestyle involves Switching over to a gluten-free lifestyle involves learning a lot of new things, including new things about yourself. ⠀
⠀
There are a lot of life-lessons involved with living with celiac, and I've mentioned a few of them here. ⠀
⠀
I think my favorite life-lesson learned is how to advocate for myself. ⠀
⠀
👇What life-lessons have you learned while living gluten-free? Did these lessons teach you anything about yourself?👇 ⠀
⠀
In the Celiac Disease Wellness Journal we're explore the things we've learned about ourselves throughout our journey and perhaps the lessons you've learned have influenced some self-discovery. ⠀
