🚩 GI Doc says "just go gluten-free" with no referral" 🚩 ⠀
Living gluten-free is complex and will change your entire life. If done right you can heal and continue to enjoy life. If done wrong, you can struggle to feel better and have celiac takeover your life. ⠀

🚩 GI says "just google it" 🚩 ⠀
Google and social media is FULL of misinformation. Just "googling it" can lead to a rabbit hole of unnecessary fear and stress. ⠀

🚩 GI says "you don't need follow-up tests" 🚩 ⠀
Follow-up testing is essential to monitoring you healing journey. If you don't get follow-up testing, it's nearly impossible to know your healing status. ⠀
⠀
🚩 Healthcare providers tell you to lose weight after diagnosis 🚩 ⠀
Weight-loss is contraindicated to healing celiac disease. We don't want to further restrict you when trying to renourish you. ⠀
ALSO: You can lose weight and you will still have celiac and you will still have to avoid gluten. ⠀
⠀
🚩You doctor tells you to lose weight for symptom management 🚩 ⠀
Do not let fatphobia in healthcare stop you from getting tested. You deserve answers, not to be written off. ⠀

🚩Someone tells you to take a bunch of supplements to heal 🚩 ⠀
Healing celiac is complex and there are MANY more impactful ways to support healing beyond supplements. Supplements can be complementary but don't let them distract you from doing the true healing work. ⠀

Here's a secret for you...

We all have different needs when it comes to celiac disease.

That's because we all have different:
👉 mindsets
👉 knowledge levels
👉 skill levels
👉 comfort-levels
👉 reactivity levels (to stress, different foods, sleep etc.)
👉 relationships with food and our body

The thing about diets are we are taught to put things into boxes: good and bad foods

And we want to do the same thing with celiac, we want to squeeze all celiacs into ONE box of concrete rules around food...

AND as much as we want to fit celiacs into one box of rules, it's just not possible.

We are all so different and naturally... so are our needs.

That's why one celiac will eat something and another won't.

That's why some celiacs feel better in a few months and others in a few years.

That's why it's important your getting help from someone who was trained in helping you uncover YOUR unique needs that will help you:

Do you know the difference between a gluten-free claim and a gluten-free certification in the USA?

Which one is celiac-safe? BOTH!
(with the exception of if the product has oats, the general consensus is if it has oats, you want to see a gluten-free certification)

It's important to note here that you also DO NOT always need a gluten-free claim or certification to be on a product for it to be celiac-safe.

Yes, you read that right.

Not only are products with gluten-free claims and certifications more expensive but only relying on these items is unnecessarily restrictive.

It can lead to more frustration in grocery stores, more celiac burnout, and overall poorer quality of life.

And if you don't even trust the claims or certifications, then the world becomes 100x more scary.
